How the Diagnosis of Social Anxiety has changed my life!

24 Jun

Having been told last month that I have Social Anxiety has had one of the greatest impacts on my life since having polio at age three. Knowing I have the anxiety/phobia has helped me confront it head on.

Once again, we all know that millions of people have some sort of “social anxiety” but for some it is worse than it is for others. If you combine this with severe depression or any other underlying mental health issues, you could have a ticking time bomb on your hands! For me that bomb exploded on the night of Saturday, April 23, 2011 and I didn’t even know there was a bomb ticking!

Fortunately, I see WordPress has a feature to make a post private through password protection. If this is the case it will allow me to share with a few of my readers my experience of Saturday, April 23, 2011. It is my hope the post will benefit those of you with a similar diagnosis to seek help if you haven’t already.  Please email me at james11155@yahoo.com if you wish to be considered to have access to this very private blog message. Tell me why you feel it is important to you and how it might be of benefit in helping you or someone you care about. I will provide you with the password but will change it often.

In the private post I will disclose:

  • The complete story that lead up to my diagnosis.
  • What has helped in my recovery from severe depression.
  • What I have done to deal with the Social Anxiety up to this date.

Keep in mind that Social Anxiety is NOT the same as being Anti-Social.

For some, social anxiety can be life threatening.

Antisocial Personality has absolutely no similarity to Social Anxiety/Phobia.

Don’t let Social Anxiety and/or Depression take away your enjoyment of life. I will begin writing a private post regarding how Social Anxiety changed my life after my experience of April 23, 2011 and what I did to begin the healing process. Please note that what you read in my posts are from my experience and my opinions only.

Take care and thank you for reading Bubba’s Blog. I hope what I say here helps readers in some way.

Respectfully Yours,

Bubba

It is so true that social anxiety coupled with depression is a tough one. I have struggled with both most of my life, and it is no picnic! I think your point that anti-social personality disorder and social anxiety are not remotely the same a very important one. Great links to other articles also.
